Messengers
Across three remote locations on Earth, Messengers follows scientists working deep underground to study a particle that could hold the key to the origins of humans and the universe.
The film takes us through three subterranean facilities – SNO+ in Canada, Super-Kamiokande in Japan, and IceCube in Antarctica – exploring the research behind neutrinos, the elusive “ghost particles” that carry messages from the core of the universe. Through a poetic style and meditative atmosphere, the film captures not only the science of these particles but their intersection with human existence in the cosmos. Messengers offers a lens through which to situate ourselves in relation to the Earth, the universe, and Deep Time. Could we ever truly understand neutrinos’ role in human existence?
