On the afternoon preceding the film Just Our Heart, we invite the audience to take part in the Truth Mandala: a simple ritual in which space is made for what moves us – personally and collectively.

The Truth Mandala is a gesture of acknowledgement. A place where grief, concern, love and longing may exist side by side. For something from your own life. For someone you miss. For a world under strain. For all that words are sometimes too small to hold.

The ritual arises from the work Active Hope by activist and writer Joanna Macy. The working languages are English and Dutch. Her work is a source of inspiration worldwide and is used in a wide range of contexts, from hospices to Extinction Rebellion.

You are welcome to participate, and equally welcome simply to be present. There is no obligation, no right way. Only the invitation to pause together and reflect on what makes us human: our capacity to feel, to hold and to share.

Through this ritual, a temporary community of attention comes into being. We carry not only our own story, but one another’s as well – and perhaps a small part of the world’s.

The ritual will be guided by five people with extensive experience in working with love and loss. If you wish, you may bring something that symbolises this personally for you.
