The Other Side of Mars
- Language talk: English
Do images reflect or shape reality? Robotics specialist and driver of the Curiosity Rover Vandi Verma works on Mars on a daily basis from her desk at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Los Angeles. Her work relies entirely on images and their technologically advanced manipulation. Through the lenses of various experts we learn how NASA’s images are created, used and manipulated for the sake of science but also for the public. Mars is the ideal place for an investigation into our paradoxical relationship to photography.
Aerospace and planetary Kartik Kumar, researcher at TU Delft is your guide during a 3D tour on Mars. He simulates Mars missions in desert regions. With filmmakers Maria Molina Peiró and Minna Långström he talks about the dependence of images on which to base research.

The Sasha
The Sasha is a story about the human perspective on Earth. It takes you on a journey to space and cyberspace, from thousands of high-resolution photos of the Moon in 1972 to a virtual Moon in Google Earth today. It is a journey through parallel universes in which eternity seems to be lost between the frames and interfaces.
