Shorts Collection: Deep Time drifts beyond human lifespans into the vast, almost unimaginable scales of Earth and cosmos. These films follow scientists as they hunt for faint traces of dust, particles and fossils, asking how time can be read in such elusive signals. In doing so, they reveal new ways of thinking about our place within a far larger story. The films will be screened in the following order: The day the sun stopped shining; Messengers.

Messengers
Across three remote locations on Earth, Messengers follows scientists working deep underground to study a particle that could hold the key to the origins of humans and the universe. The film takes us through three subterranean facilities – SNO+ in Canada, Super-Kamiokande in Japan, and IceCube in Antarctica – exploring the research behind neutrinos, the elusive “ghost particles” that carry messages from the core of the universe.
