Express yourself, stand out, and collect as many carabiners as you can in this playful walk-through of what it’s like to be a lesbian in the Netherlands.

After world-premiering at IDFA DocLab and being selected for SXSW, debut director Iris van der Meule brings her VR experience to Nijmegen. Stepping into this candy-coloured safe space – and into a pair of queer shoes – you get to be a lesbian for a day, or rather, for 40 minutes. Moving through a series of cartoon-like levels, you learn to claim space in a still heteronormative society. Guided by the narration of Hannah van Vliet, you venture into an exciting new world, culminating in a celebratory canal parade. A joyous practicum for young and old, straights, allies and queers alike – and you’ll even leave with a nice little souvenir.
