Framing Agnes

In 2019, InScience screened the short film Framing Agnes, which has now been developed into a longer film. This film uniquely brings to life six stories of trans people from the archives of the UCLA Gender Clinic from the 1950s: we see real stories of real people who struggled with their gender identity long before there was any social understanding. Their pain and anger are poignantly portrayed by actors. This touching film premiered at Sundance.

Before this film, the short film ‘Becoming Male in the Middle Ages’ will be screened, a refreshing exploration of gender, reproduction and the idea of family.

TALK Voor trans personen gaat zichtbaarheid hand in hand met kwetsbaarheid. Meer representatie in media, wetenschap en kunst betekent ook meer ogen op je gericht. Larisa van Rijn, een van de curatoren van de tentoonstelling How Dare You Make Me Feel This Way in Museum Arnhem, weet hier alles van. Zij werkte mee aan de expositie over trans en queer joy. Hoe geef je een ode aan queerness in een museum – een ruimte die van oudsher vaak onvriendelijk is voor trans personen? En wat is de waarde van deze bijzondere tentoonstelling? Schrijver en organisator Moni Zwitserloot gaat erover met haar in gesprek.
