Chimaera
Beyond
The generative documentary takes inspiration from its mythical namesake—a creature composed of disparate parts to form something entirely new. Such a creature resembles both a simulacrum of a half-remembered past, as well as an omen of an unsettling future.
During his residency at Radboud Heritage, Genee devised a philosophical and anthropological framework to trace the ideation processes of the university’s leading scientists, designers, and educators, seeking a shared epistemic thread running across a kaleidoscopic range of disciplines.
Currently in its first iteration, Chimaera asks: How far can we dissect the phenomena of our reality—its objects, minds, senses, interactions, and contexts—before the essence slips away, and what new ideas emerge when we reassemble these fragmented parts?
