This program is subtitled in Dutch.

In the beginning, there is a kidney stone. But how does a mineral end up in a body? From this question, the film embarks on a meandering, enigmatic and philosophical journey.

Some films take the most unexpected premise and, before you even realize it, transport you on a wild journey – from Palestine to Cape Verde and beyond. Reflective and profound without feeling heavy, joyful and playful without being shallow, brilliant, ingenious, experimental without ever being pretentious, Sofie Benoot’s film is an awe-inspiring experience, which seems to deconstruct and reinvent the “InScience film” genre. Stones are more than cold, lifeless minerals; they are part of a vast, interconnected natural system – one that includes us. Mysterious and astonishing as it may seem, a stone can, indeed, find its way into the human body.

This film will be accompanied by the short The Tip of Mont Blanc (2007), a clever still-image-only adventure that follows two men on a rebellious mission to restore Mont Blanc to its former glory.
