Anthropocene: The Human Epoch
- Language talk: Dutch
An epic and visually stunning documentary about how people have fundamentally and irreversibly changed the planet by systematically crossing the boundaries of nature. And there seems to be no end in sight. Mankind continues to pollute the earth, destroy nature for industry and deplete natural resources. We find ourselves in the Anthropocene, the geological era in which the climate and the atmosphere have been irreversibly changed by humankind. Paradoxically, this shocking fact has been beautifully portrayed in a film that serves as both a warning and an ode to the beauty of our planet.
How can we shape our global society in such a way that it becomes sustainable? Ingrid Visseren, professor of Environmental Governance and Politics at Radboud University with a specialisation in social governance, was the coordinating lead author of the 2019 IPBES Global Assessment, a comprehensive report on biosphere changes over the past fifty years.
