InScience Film Festival

On Tour ’23: Arnhem

In 2023, InScience filmfestival in Nijmegen showed 55 of the most impressive science films available at that time. The festival program highlights current challenges, from climate crisis to virus pandemic and from trauma to transphobia. These are films that also explore solutions, such as rewilding, neurotechnology, mass vaccines and groundbreaking medical science. Films that raise eyebrows. Films that celebrate wonder.

InScience will tour the Netherlands again in 2023. Experience the best of the fest throughout the country!

This year you can watch two films from InScience 2023 in Focus Filmtheater in ArnhemDe Humani Corporis Fabrica and The Human Trial. The screenings are introduced by an expert and there is an opportunity for discussion after the film.

The Human Trial (5 February)

The Human Trial shows how much blood, sweat and tears are behind scientific research. The documentary follows a groundbreaking clinical trial to find a cure for diabetes, weaving the poignant stories of patients with scientists’ passionate quest for a medical breakthrough. In 2016, one of the makers was invited to InScience to show an excerpt from this film.

De Humani Corporis Fabrica (26 februari)

Five centuries ago, anatomist André Vésale opened the human body to science for the first time. De Humani Corporis Fabrica opens up the human body on the silver screen, with micro-cameras that reach places in our body that could not be captured before. Our human flesh turns out to be an imposing landscape that exists through the gaze and attention of others. This film, from the makers of Leviathan (2012), offers a challenging, groundbreaking look at and in our own bodies.
