Winner Jury Award: Geographies of Solitude
The professional jury of InScience 2023 has declared Geographies of Solitude the best science film of InScience 2023. Director Jacquelyn Mills receives the InScience Jury Award worth €2,500. This year the professional jury consisted of Alexis Gambis, Dan Jin Wu, Ronald Veldhuizen and Valerie van Zuijlen.
For decades, Zoe Lucas, naturalist and environmentalist, has been cataloging the flora and fauna on Sable Island, a small island close to Canada only 34 square kilometers big. Geographies of Solitude is a beautiful portrait of both Zoe and the island, full of impressive images of dreamscape with dunes populated by wild horses, but also by increasingly washed up plastic from all over the world.
