Unique art piece by Joris Strijdbos in LUX during InScience Film Festival
When you enter LUX during the InScience Film Festival you are greeted by a display of alternating, moving lights. This is an elaborate art piece by visual artist Joris Strijdbos.
Cycles is a kinetic light installation which produces diffraction patterns of moving light. The work draws inspiration from Thomas Wilfred’s experiments in the 1920s with “Lumia,” an abstract approach to light that he described as a form of visual music. This historical influence, combined with contemporary technology, forms the foundation of Cycles.
Within the installation, abstract light patterns are generated by directing laser beams through rotating transparent objects. As these elements continuously shift, they produce evolving geometric and organic forms that unfold in real time. The result is a spatial projection in which light alone shapes a hypnotic and meditative visual experience.
