These are the winning films of InScience Film Festival 2026
During the eleventh edition of the InScience Film Festival in Nijmegen, the prestigious InScience Awards were presented to the most inspiring science films.
The InLab International Jury Award went to Aminatou Echards’ film The Big Everything, with an honorable mention for Hannah Papacek’s Harper’s Lost for Words. Regarding Echards’ film the jury, consisting of Anupama Srinivisan, Maria Stuut, Ondřej Kazík, and Teun Bousema, said: “In a deeply personal and resonant manner, this film confronts family history with clear-eyed honesty. In an engaging combination of archived material, interviews with different generations, and audio recordings, this film brings to life crucial themes we are grappling with, melding it artistically and poignantly with the contemporary realities of young people in Niger. The film thereby takes forward the discourse on decolonisation in a fresh and meaningful way.”
The InSights NTR Audience Award, voted for by the public, was awarded to Maasja Ooms’ documentary My Word Against Mine. The film was produced by Cerutti film and will appear in Dutch theatres from 26 March on under its Dutch title.. The winner of the InShort Student Jury Award is Niko Radaš’s Psychonauts. The jury, consisting of Melisa Yilmaz, Sumi Im, Antonis Lappas, and Marta Ločmele, praised the originality, strong artistic vision, craftsmanship, and the deep connection between the aesthetic choices and the message.
The Klokhuis Science Prize 2026 was also awarded on Sunday to the research project “Hand in Hand tegen de spanning”. The award ceremony took place at the Mariënburg Library.
The InScience Film Festival continues with its satellite edition at Visum Mundi in Wageningen from March 12 to 15. Next year, we will return to Nijmegen from March 2 to 8, 2027, where we will explore the theme of Money.
