InScience Film Festival

Awardshow InScience 2020 Online

InScience shows the best science films that have appeared worldwide in the past year. As every year, the films from the competition program have a chance to win the NTR De Kennis van Nu Audience Award, the Student Jury Award and the InScience Jury Award. InScience also awards the Klokhuis Science Prize. Who will go home with – or rather, who will receive the coveted awards at home?

NTR Kennis van Nu Audience Award

A selection of the best science documentaries has a chance of winning the NTR De Kennis van Nu Audience Award. After each film, the visitor can indicate his / her rating via the online platform by entering how many stars they think the film is worth on the left side of the page! The final score of all ratings determines which director will receive the award. The winning film will take home € 2,500.

InScience Jury Award

The second InScience Jury Award will be presented during the sixth edition of InScience. The jury consists of three professionals with different areas of expertise: Robbert Dijkgraaf, Maartje Nevejan and Patricia Pisters. They watch a selection of films and announce the best science film of InScience 2020 on the last festival day, Sunday 15 November. The director of the winning film receives the InScience Jury Award worth € 2,500!

Student Jury Award

The film that is rated highest by the student jury receives the Student Jury Award and wins a cash prize of € 500. Through the Student Jury, InScience encourages young people to be more involved in science. They get the opportunity to experience a film festival from within and to express their opinion about film. On November 15, the InScience 2020 Student Jury will hand out an award for their chosen best science film!

The Klokhuis Science Prize

The Klokhuis Science Prize is awarded annually during InScience. This year you can watch the livestream ceremony on the online platform! The prize is intended to familiarize a young and broad public with Dutch scientific research. It was quite a job, but the 10 nominations for the Klokhuis Science Prize 2020 have been chosen! This year there were over 60 entries from Dutch universities, colleges and UMCs. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday 15 November at 12:00 PM via the InScience online platform.

The research ‘Brains in your stomach?’ Was the winner of the Klokhuis Science Prize in 2019. The winning project belongs to medical researcher Veerle Melotte (Maastricht UMC +). A Klokhuis episode about this research area will premiere during InScience 2020.
