InScience On Tour in Twente
In collaboration with Concordia, Studium Generale Universiteit Twente, and Studium Generale Saxion, we are proud to present the third InScience On Tour edition in Twente. The program is introduced by an expert and after the film, there is an opportunity for discussion. InScience On Tour in Twente takes place on 16, 17, and 18 November.
In Silico

In 2009 the highly ambitious Human Brain Project was announced by Henry Markram, resulting in a lot of publicity and attention. This extremely expensive project was aimed at developing a complete computer simulation of the human brain, within ten years. Director Noah Hutton was granted full access to everything that happened from the start and has managed to relentlessly capture what it was like to work on a project where there was a lot at stake – maybe even too much. In Silico immerses the viewer in the world of scientific top sport, multimillion-dollar investments, enormous egos, and even grander ambitions.
TALK
After the film prof. dr. ir. Wilfred van der Wiel will reflect on the movie by answering your questions. Van der Wiel is a full professor in the field of Nanoscience at the UT and one of the directors of BRAINS: Center for Brain-Inspired Nano Systems. Van der Wiel tries to develop more efficient hardware for information processing by studying the energy-efficient human brain. He is fascinated by brains and computers and is looking forward to discussing In Silico with you!

The way in which we pronounce words has been used to separate friend from foe since language originated. The surprising documentary By the Throat explores our vocal limits through science, technology, cultural prejudices, and politics.

Citizen Nobel

Citizen Nobel is an inspiring portrait of Jacques Dubochet, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2017.
