The Reason I Jump

The Reason I Jump

In 2007 the Japanese Naoki Higashida wrote a book about his experiences as a non-verbal autist. Based on this bestseller, The Reason I Jump combines Higashida’s revelatory insights with intimate portraits of five similar young people around the world. This fascinating film immerses the audience in the stories of non-speaking autistic humans and their unique sensory worlds filled with intensity and joy, but also full of shadows and fear. This film opens up worlds that were previously inaccessible due to their very private and constricted nature.
