Son of Monarchs

Son of Monarchs

Son of Monarchs tells the story of the Mexican biologist Mendel. After his grandmother’s death, he returns to his hometown from New York, which is located in the majestic Monarch butterfly forests of Michoacán, Mexico. This journey forces him to confront traumatic experiences from the past, and to reflect on his hybrid identity. This film is a poetic tribute to all scientists that have sailed far from home for their life’s work.
