Saving Mes Aynak

In the 1960’s a large ancient city named Mes Aynak was discovered in Afghanistan. Now about 10% of the city is uncovered and the place turned out to hold many important artworks. Sadly, Mes Aynak is about to be destroyed for once and for all. The city lies on top of a large copper source and a Chinese mining company plans to turn it into a mining pit. In this urgent documentary a group of passionate archaeologist try to save what can be saved and to stop the mining company. Meanwhile, they also face financial setbacks and threats from the Taliban who don’t tolerate the Buddhist city of old on their soil.
