Ice and the Sky
Documentary director Luc Jacquet had previously travelled to Antarctica to make his acclaimed and popular film The March of the Penguins. Now he returns to the South Pole to tell a different story. Claude Lorius is a glaciologist who has been to the arctic landscape 22 times to study the environment. During that long period of time he was able to witness the destructive effect global warming has on the South Pole. This documentary is both a beautiful ode to the icy landscapes, the tale of a man who has travelled through these harsh conditions many times and also a warning about how we treat our environment.
