Homo Botanicus
In Homo Botanicus, filmmaker Guillermo Quintero explores the romantic world of an ancient discipline: botany. We meet Julio Betancur, a leading botanist who has devoted 27 years of his life to studying, collecting and protecting the many species of plants he has found in Colombia. His young disciple is Christian Castro, who admires the professor and shares his love of botany. Together, teacher and pupil adventure deep into the Amazonian jungle to find new plants for Julio’s vast collection of more than 19,000 species.
