A Cure for Fear

A Cure for Fear

Fear and anxiety are part of everyday life, but what if a single pill could cure these for good? Merel Kindt, a neuroscientist and professor at the University of Amsterdam, has spent years researching a new therapy that could lead to a breakthrough treatment for anxiety disorders. As part of this therapy, patients are first confronted with their fear. They are then given a pill and 24 hours later their fear is gone. Interestingly, the pill appears to work for both minor phobias and major traumas. But what are the moral and ethical ramifications of this radical approach? And how responsible is it to eliminate emotional memories?
